Itinerary

    • Your exciting day of rafting on the Trishuli River begins early in the morning after a hearty breakfast. From Kathmandu, you’ll embark on a scenic drive along the Prithvi Highway. As you journey toward Charaudi-the rafting starting point-you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Nepal’s changing landscapes: rolling hills, deep valleys, terraced fields, and, on a clear day, the majestic Himalayas to the north. The drive from Kathmandu to Charaudi takes around 3 to 4 hours. Along the way, you’ll take a short rest stop at Malekhu, a well-known highway town by the Trishuli River. Here, you can enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee along with some local snacks before continuing the trip.

Upon reaching Charaudi, it will take about 30 minutes to prepare for the rafting adventure. You’ll change into suitable attire and gear up with all necessary safety equipment, including helmets, life jackets, and paddles. It’s best to wear light, comfortable clothing underneath. Before launching into the river, your rafting guide will provide a detailed safety briefing and go over paddling techniques and river commands. Then the real adventure begins! You’ll tackle a series of fun and challenging rapids as you float downstream. Along the way, you’ll pass through dramatic gorges, serene pools, forested riverbanks, and traditional villages nestled in the hills. Your guide may also point out safe spots for swimming or cliff jumping-just be sure to listen carefully and follow all safety instructions.

After about 4 hours of exhilarating rafting, your journey will conclude at Kuringhat. At the takeout point, you’ll enjoy a freshly prepared packed lunch at a riverside resort. Finally, you’ll board a local bus for the return trip to Kathmandu, bringing your thrilling day on the Trishuli River to a close.

Best Time for 1-Day Trishuli River Rafting Adventure

Trishuli River rafting in Nepal can be enjoyed throughout the year, but certain seasons enhance the experience depending on your thrill level and comfort with rapid intensity. There are two main rafting periods: the high-water and low-water seasons. The high-water season falls during summer (June to August) and autumn (September to November). These months offer the most thrilling and intense rafting conditions, thanks to increased river flow and powerful rapids. If you’re seeking an adrenaline-filled ride with fast currents and bigger waves, this is the time to go. The weather is warmer, making it perfect for splashing through cool waters and enjoying nature’s vibrant scenery.

Rafting in these peak months not only offers the best water volume and challenges, but also ensures warm temperatures, making the entire experience both exciting and refreshing. Few things match the joy of plunging into cool river water on a hot day, surrounded by lush hills and stunning landscapes. Alternatively, the low-water season occurs in spring (March to May) and winter (December to February). During these periods, water levels in the Trishuli River drop, making the rapids calmer and the experience more beginner-friendly. Though not as intense as the high-water season, rafting is still enjoyable and offers plenty of fun. Spring, in particular, is an excellent choice for first-timers or those looking for a more relaxed adventure in milder weather.

Even in the off-peak seasons, you can still take part in river activities such as tubing, swimming, and cliff jumping. The Trishuli River’s consistent flow makes it a reliable destination for rafting year-round, with each season offering its own charm and unique experience.
