Overview

Pisang Peak Climbing (6,091 meters / 19,984 feet) Also known as Jong Ri, Pisang Peak is nestled between two iconic Himalayan giants Annapurna I and Manaslu in Nepal’s scenic Manang district. The mountain was first successfully ascended in 1955 by a German expedition team, which brought this stunning peak into the spotlight. Since then, Pisang Peak has become one of the most sought-after climbing peaks in the Annapurna region, attracting adventurers from across the globe. This peak offers a captivating blend of trekking and mountaineering, traversing diverse natural terrains, rich cultural sites, and vibrant Himalayan biodiversity. Although considered one of the easier trekking peaks in Nepal, Pisang Peak still demands a reasonable level of physical fitness and good health to ensure a safe and successful climb. Reaching the summit rewards climbers with unrivaled panoramic views of majestic mountains such as Annapurna, Manaslu, the Chulu range, Tilicho Peak, Himlung, and Damodar Himal.

Itinerary

    • Welcome to the land of the Himalayas! Upon landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our team will receive you and transfer you to your hotel in the heart of the city. After checking in, take some time to unwind from your journey or explore the lively streets of Thamel, known for its colorful shops, cafés, and local markets. In the evening, a short briefing about the upcoming trek and climb will be provided.

    • Spend your second day exploring Kathmandu’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage. A professional guide will accompany you to UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the majestic Boudhanath Stupa, sacred Pashupatinath Temple, and the ancient hilltop shrine of Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple). The day offers a deeper understanding of Nepal’s history and religious diversity. In the evening, prepare your gear and enjoy a welcome dinner.

    • After breakfast, leave Kathmandu behind and journey westward through scenic countryside. The drive offers glimpses of rural Nepal, with lush valleys, flowing rivers, and terraced farmlands. Upon reaching Besishahar, continue onward to the peaceful village of Nga Di. This marks the beginning of your trekking adventure.

    • Your first trekking day takes you along the Marsyangdi River, through charming villages and lush forests. The trail is a mix of gentle inclines and stone-paved paths. Passing through terraced fields and bamboo groves, you’ll arrive in Syange a small, picturesque village with beautiful river views and a relaxing atmosphere.

    • Today’s journey leads you to the scenic village of Tal, nestled beside a serene river and surrounded by steep cliffs. The trail involves crossing suspension bridges, walking past cascading waterfalls, and climbing rocky trails. Tal is one of the first settlements in the Manang district and offers stunning mountain scenery.

    • As you continue ascending, the landscape begins to change. Today’s trail moves through alpine forests and hillside paths. You’ll pass Dharapani, an important village along the Annapurna Circuit, before climbing to the peaceful settlement of Timang, which offers panoramic views of Manaslu and Lamjung Himal.

    • The trek continues through a blend of pine forests and hillside paths. The air becomes cooler as you approach the arid, trans-Himalayan zone. Arriving at Lower Pisang, you’re rewarded with stunning views of Annapurna II and Pisang Peak. The cultural blend of Tibetan influence is visible in the architecture and prayer wheels of the village.

    • Today you leave the main Annapurna trail and start ascending toward Pisang Peak. The trail gradually climbs through alpine meadows and rocky terrain until you reach Base Camp. Settle in your tented camp below the towering peak, surrounded by silence and snow-capped grandeur.

    • A vital day for your body to adjust to the high altitude. Spend the day resting or going for short hikes around the base camp. This day also includes basic climbing training from your guide, who will explain how to use equipment like harnesses, ropes, ice axes, and crampons. Proper acclimatization greatly increases your success and safety for the summit attempt.

    • The trail to High Camp is steep and rugged, with increased exposure to the alpine environment. You’ll trek along glacier moraines and icy slopes, slowly gaining elevation. Upon reaching High Camp, your team will set up tents, and you’ll prepare gear for the summit climb. The temperature drops significantly here, so layers and proper rest are essential.

    • Summit day begins before dawn. With headlamps lighting your path and under the guidance of experienced climbing Sherpas, you’ll ascend snowy ridges and ice slopes using fixed ropes. After several hours of effort, you’ll reach the summit of Pisang Peak standing tall at 6,091 meters. From the top, enjoy a surreal 360-degree panorama featuring Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangapurna, Tilicho, Chulu range, Manaslu, and more. After soaking in the views and capturing the moment, descend carefully to Base Camp for a well-earned rest.

    • After the exhilarating summit, begin your descent through familiar trails. The journey back to Chame is a chance to reflect on your accomplishment while enjoying the descending altitude and increasingly green landscape. Chame, the district headquarters of Manang, offers good food and comfortable teahouses.

    • Say goodbye to the highlands as you board a local jeep or private vehicle for the off-road drive from Chame to Besishahar. The drive winds through mountain roads, river valleys, and traditional Gurung and Tamang villages.

    • After breakfast, return to Kathmandu via the highway. Enjoy the diverse scenery along the way—rivers, villages, and distant hills. Once in the city, check back into your hotel and spend your evening relaxing, shopping for souvenirs, or dining out to celebrate your journey.

    • After an unforgettable Himalayan adventure, it’s time to say farewell. Our team will escort you to the airport for your departure flight. Leave Nepal with cherished memories of a successful summit and a culturally rich trekking experience.
